Blyth AFC suffered their first defeat in the league against a young, resurgent Chester Le Street tonight. Blyth had the better stance in the first half and both Michael Tait and Ben Richardson went close with good chances.
The visitors had a great opportunity to take the lead on the half hour mark but just fired wide and the first half ended with 0-0.
The second half started with Blyth looking strong but again, wasted chance after chance. The visitors took the lead on the 65th minute after a foul on the edge of the box resulted in a teasing free kick for Chester Le Street’s Denver Maddison.
Three substitutions for Blyth saw Gary Day, Sean McRoberts and Liam Gillesphey come on for Taylor, Bulford and Tait and again Blyth created enough chances to win the game, but that wasn’t to be and the game ended 0-1.
Chester Le Street ran out winners and we wish them good luck for the rest of the season.
