Ian ‘ii’ Irving is assistant manager to Michael Connor and Andy Bowman. An experienced and well respected ex-star player with a wealth of experience in the Northern League, ii is a welcome addition to the team.

Tell us about your football/management career: Before getting into managing football teams, I was a long-time Northern League footballer playing for clubs such as Blyth Spartans, Whitley Bay, Ashington, North Shields and of course, Blyth Town First Team back in 2014 when we won the Northern Alliance League so it is great to be back as assistant manager for the first team.

Day time job: Firefighter

What brought you to join Blyth AFC? It is a friendly club with great people that has ambitions to progress up the football pyramid. This is my second season with Blyth AFC and is sure to be an exciting one.

Ambitions: To be a successful part of the management team and deliver trophies/success for the club]

What manager do you admire/ aspire to be like? Bobby Robson – True footballing legend and gentleman.

Any other points of interest:  I scored on my senior football debut for Blyth Spartans against Whitley Bay in a 1-0 friendly win back in 1998.
